Building on the game mechanics of the original title (see “Real-Time Co-Op ‘Magic Maze’ Comes to U.S.”), Magic Maze Tower offers a solo or cooperative challenge as the players take on the role of would-be fantasy thieves captured by mall security and cast into the magical prison tower. In each game, they must work together to overcome obstacles across four smaller levels and one larger one, trying to make sure that everyone can reach the Exit space.
The new game offers a total of 91 levels for players to pit themselves against, and does not require the original game to play. Unlike the original Magic Maze, this version does not include a time limit or the “Do Something” pawn for a more stress-free experience, but players are prohibited from speaking during play. Fans of the original game can also transport the new Little Sister Hero into Magic Maze, adding new options for that game as well.Magic Maze Tower features artwork by Gyom, who did the artwork for Magic Maze, and Anthony Moulins (Gardeners, Fairy Lights). The game includes 76 quest cards, 3 tutorial cards, 2 help tiles, 5 hero pawns, and 4 orientation tiles. It is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 9 and up, and plays in about 30 minutes. MSRP is $24.99.
