Following the success of the initial ten titles, DC Comics will publish five more Compact Comics collections.  And in another case of reformatting for a new audience, they will re-release the 2018 trade Mystik U as a YA graphic novel.

DC launched Compact Comics, paperback collections priced at $9.99 and aimed at new readers, in June (see “DC Launches New Line of Compact Comics”), and they have been making both the BookScan and the ComicHub best-seller lists.

The new Compact Comics titles and release dates are

  • Kingdom Come, by Mark Waid and Alex Ross (May 6, 2025)
  • Static: Season One, by Vita Ayala, Reginald Hudlin, and Nikolas Draper-Ivey (May 27, 2025)
  • DCeased, by Tom Taylor and Trevor Hairsine (June 3, 2025)
  • Batwoman: Elegy, by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III (June 17, 2025)
  • Superman: Birthright, by Mark Waid, Leinil Francis Yu, and Gerry Alanguilan (June 24, 2025)

DC is also re-releasing Mystik U, by Alisa Kwitney and Mike Norton, as a YA graphic novel, Mystik U: Freshman Year Enhancements.  The story was originally released as a three-issue series in 2017 and then collected as a trade in 2018.  The YA edition, slated for March 4, 2025, is rated for ages 13-16 and with a trim size of 6” x 9” is slightly smaller than the original.  The price, however, will remain the same at $16.99.

DC re-released another teen-friendly older series, Prez, as a YA graphic novel in June (see “DC YA Graphic Novels”).
