John Miller of Lost Realms in Boca Raton, Florida is concerned about the increasing competition he's seeing from Internet retailers:
I'm finding it more and more difficult trying to compete with the Internet. Every day I hear a customer say how they can get that box of Magic cards online cheaper, etc. I am fine with that, and I deal with it, and I appreciate my customers who support me and who don't buy from some guy in his bathrobe selling product from his basement.
I have tried to streamline my products by getting in Diamond Select items and other exclusive items to sell in my store. Well I did a search on ToysRUs.com for fun and was amazed by how many Diamond Select items they were selling. Now don't get me wrong, I understand when companies like to blow out old items and sell to the mass market, but half of the items for sale were preorders for new stuff that hasn't come out yet, and they are selling them at below the cost that Diamond sells them to me at! They also are selling toys and statues that I can't reorder from Diamond.
