A number of key game publishers are supporting the establishment of a National Games Week to be held during the fourth week in November (Nov. 21 -27 this year) to promote the educational, social and entertainment value of playing games. Eagle Games, Wizards of the Coast, Mayfair Games, Pokemon USA and Rio Grande Games are all listed as high level sponsors of this inaugural year's event, which also coincides with Million Minute Family Challenge, which challenges everyone to play games and log game play minutes at the Million Minute Website.
Organizing company Matthews Simmons Marketing expects that National Games Week events will be held in an estimated 15,000 locations including homes, schools, churches, colleges, community centers and retail stores. Retailers are being encouraged to host events in their stores tied to the event.
