Cavan Scott will pen a new, horror-themed Star Wars miniseries, Star Wars: Tales from the Nightlands, launching from Dark Horse Comics on September 3, 2025. Each of the three issues will feature a story from a different Star Wars era and will have a different artist: Bram Stoker award-winner Soo Lee for the first issue, Vicenzo Riccardi for the second, and Robert Hack for the third. The series will also feature a new character, Nightlander, designed by Star Wars concept artist Iain McCaig, the designer of Darth Maul. Francesco Francavilla is the cover artist, and the first issue will have a concept art variant cover by McCaig.
The story delves into the mythology of the planet Ryloth and the supernatural realm of the Nightlands, where the Twi’leks’ spirits travel after death. In the first issue, a young Padawan Anakin Skywalker visits Ryloth with Obi-Wan Kenobi and an attempt to summon the ghost of Qui-Gon Jinn goes terribly wrong. In the second issue, Luke and Leia face the malevolent being known as the Nightlander, and the third issue features Rey and Finn fighting a dark power.
Scott began writing Star Wars horror comics for release around Halloween in 2018 (see “IDW Preps Scary ‘Star Wars’ Comic”).
