Dark Horse has announced a new hardcover edition of Richard Corben’s Lovecraftian horror story Rat God, a backwoods tale of strange creatures and savage animals inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft. The story was written and drawn by Corben and colored by his daughter, Beth Corben Reed. Dark Horse published it as a five-issue series and then as a collected hardcover edition in 2015 (see “Dark Horse’s High Profile October Hardcovers”). That edition appears to be out of print. The new edition will have a larger trim size, 8” x 11”, than the earlier hardcover and will feature remastered lettering by Nate Piekos and a foreword by author Caitlín R. Kiernan. The book also includes both the color and black and white versions of “The Rats in the Walls,” a short comic by Corben and artist Donald Wandrei that adapts the Lovecraft story of the same name. The 184-page hardcover will be released in bookstores and comic shops on November 18 and 19, 2025, with an MSRP of $39.99.

Dark Horse launched the Richard Corben Library in 2023 (see “Dark Horse to Publish New Line of Richard Corben Hardcovers”); the most recent addition is the previously unpublished Dimwood (see "Dark Horse to Publish Richard Corben’s ‘Dimwood’”).
