The last print 'Previews'
Diamond Comic Distributors, under new ownership, has printed its last Previews catalog, the company announced in an email to retailers today.  Instead, it is offering Previews and Previews Customer Order Forms as digital files via the Joomag platform.  There will no cost for the digital version.  The digital catalog will contain links to PreviewsWorld.com "…that enable your customers to obtain ordering information…before submitting their Previews Customer Order Forms."

There was no mention in the announcement of Diamond’s Pull List tool and how it will integrate with the new digital Previews.

The print edition of the July 2025 Previews had been solicited and was due to be released this week.  The digital version will go live this Friday, June 20.

Meanwhile, the staff that’s been producing Previews for decades is uncertain of their future. Allyn Gibson, longtime head writer of Previews, posted on LinkedIn last week that he was looking for work as he was unsure of his future after June 30.  "As of right now, I am employed by Diamond through June 30th," he wrote.  "I do not know what Ad Populum's plans are or how I might fit into them."  In that post, Gibson said his oeuvre consisted of 216 issues of Previews as of that date.

Gibson joins Previews editor Marty Grosser, who posted earlier this month that after editing Previews for 37 years and 441 issues, he was looking for a new job due to uncertainty about his future with the company (see "’Previews’ Editor Is Looking").

Meanwhile, retailers fearing the loss of the monthly data flow from Diamond (see "Retailers Fear Loss") will see the continuation of the digital version as a win, of sorts.

Back in 2020, a new model for taking advance orders was proposed here at ICv2 (see "A New Model").
