Gen Con was, once again, packed to capacity on day one (see "Attendance Record"). This year, about 72,000 gamers showed up in force to celebrate by meeting up with friends, playing games, and checking out this year's hottest titles (see "Buzzworthy"). The crowds were largely undeterred by the various obstacles placed in front of them, most notably the vast amount of construction going on in the Indianapolis downtown area. Everyone seemed to be ready to game and game for four whole days and nights.
