Platinum Studios has announced that Dimensions Films has acquired the rights to develop a live action film based on Top Cow's The Darkness, by Marc Silvestri, Garth Ennis, and David Wohl.  Dimension has other comic films in the pipe, including Sin City and the fourth Crow film. 

 

According to Variety, the deal was for a mid-six figure amount against seven figures.  Also according to Variety, The Darkness is also being developed as a videogame by Majesco. 

 

This is the first film deal for a Top Cow property by Platinum since it picked up the Top Cow film and TV rights (see 'Platinum To Develop Top Cow Characters for Film and TV').  Platinum also put together a DVD/TV deal for two properties that will be published as comics by Top Cow next year (see 'Platinum Preps Two Comic/TV/DVD Properties').
