Hero Factory has announced plans to release a collectible card game based on the classic anime-based Robotech property. Hero Factory used to be subsidiary of the Itochu Corporation (and issued Robotech Trading Cards in 2002), but is now an independent entity. The company plans to create the Robotech CCG using art from the classic Robotech TV series as well as new art supplied by Robotech licensor Harmony Gold, USA.
Robotech, which was expertly cobbled together from three different anime series by Carl Macek, debuted in the U.S. in 1985 and played a key role in inspiring the first major wave of enthusiasm for anime here in the States. Over the past twenty years Robotech has spawned loads of merchandise here including toys, comics, and role-playing games. Hero Factory has not yet announced a release date for its Robotech CCG, though the company has said that it has plans to release multiple starter decks and booster packs over the next few years.
