The Man of Steel is all over the entertainment pages these days (Bryan Singer's new Superman film is set to begin filming in Australia in March), and Ben Affleck has just signed up to portray Hollywood actor George Reeves in Focus Feature's Truth, Justice and the American Way, a new film that explores Reeves' mysterious death.  It was ruled a suicide, but many observers believed it was murder.

Oscar winner Adrian Brody will star opposite Affleck as a detective investigating the death of Reeves, who may have been involved in an affair with Toni Mannix (Diane Lane), wife of the ultra-powerful studio executive Eddie Mannix.

In addition to attempting to sort out the mystery of Reeves' tragic death, the film also examines Reeves' ambivalent feelings toward the character of Superman, the role that provided the longtime character actor with instant fame thanks to the new medium of television and the popularity of The Adventures of Superman TV series in the 1950s.
