Peter David (Fallen Angel) is writing a full-color 48-page one-shot, Spike: Old Times, which will be available in August from IDW Publishing.  Spike: Old Times is based on an untold tale from the Joss Whedon-created character's past -- his attempt to get even with the elegant woman who, back in the 1880s, humiliated him and set in motion a chain of events that led him to become the vampire known as Spike.

The basis for the story comes from Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series in which actress Kali Rocha plays both Spike's lost love Emily in the episode 'Fool For Love' (Season 5) and the vengeance demon Halfrek in a later episode 'Older and Far Away' (Season 6).  In Spike: Old Times Peter David connects the dots and fleshes out the possibilities in the twisted relationship between these two characters, which is only lightly sketched in the BVS TV series.
