Writer and filmmaker Reginald Hudlin has indicated on his Website that he will continue to write the Black Panther comic book series for Marvel in addition to assuming duties as the chief programmer for the 24-hour BET cable network.  Hudlin revived the Black Panther comic earlier this year with a re-launch that has developed a strong following -- Black Panther #4 was the #63 best-selling comic in May with a direct market circulation of over 40,000 copies (see 'Top 300 Comics Actual -- May 2005).  In its previous comic book incarnation (written by Christopher Priest), the Black Panther comic received plenty of critical praise, but was one of Marvel's lowest-selling titles.  Hudlin has managed to make the Black Panther comic both a critical and financial success.  Given the dearth of black superhero titles, Hudlin's decision to keep writing the Black Panther comic series is good news indeed.
