The Hollywood trades are reporting that actor/writer/director Peter Berg (Friday Night Lights) has agreed to write (and possibly direct) an adaptation of the Vertigo comic book series, The Losers, written by Andy Diggle.  Diggle's version of The Losers, which bears little resemblance to the Dirty Dozen-like Silver Age combat comic series of the same name, concerns a CIA black ops team in Afghanistan that is set up, attacked, and left for dead.  Diggle's modern iteration of The Losers is a fast-paced espionage thriller with plenty of twists and turns as the team endeavors to find out who betrayed them and exact some measure of revenge.

The Losers is being developed by DC Comics' sister company, Warner Bros.
