The Anime News Network is reporting that the live action film based on Ai Yazawa's Nana manga came in at number three at the box office in Japan this past weekend.  The film, which stars Aoi Miyazaki and Mika Nakashima as two very different girls with the same first name who move to Tokyo and become friends, opened in the number one spot, has remained in the top three on Japan's box office charts for five weeks.

The Nana manga was one of the first titles chosen by Viz for its Shoujo Beat anthology magazine.  The first tankoubon collection of Nana in English is due out from Viz in December.  The thirteenth volume of the on-going series has just been released in Japan, where it is a perennial Top Ten title.
