Warner Bros. Home Video has announced the release of the The Flash: The Complete Series DVD boxed set on January 10, 2006. The 6-disc set, which has an MSRP of $59.98, includes all 22 episodes of the series including the 90-minute pilot movie. The imminent release of The Flash series has been rumored since Warner Home Video included a bonus episode of The Flash in the Smallville Season Four set.
The Flash TV series aired on CBS in 1990 in the wake of Tim Burton's highly successful Batman movie. The series featured John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen. Shipp was joined by a solid cast including Amanda Pays (Max Headroom) and the series also featured a number of star villains, most notably Mark Hamill as The Trickster and David Cassidy as The Mirror Master.
Screenwriter/director David Goyer is currently working on a Flash movie, and with the vast number of TV on DVD releases coming out comic store owners might want to consider stocking this series after the initial wave of mass-merchant discounting subsides.
