Ethan Peacock of Elfsar Collection: The Yaletown Comic & Toy Store in Vancouver, British Columbia has some advice for other retailers on selling the Gentle Giant Bust-ups:
We have had great success with selling Gentle Giant's Star Wars Bust-ups. Series 1, 2 and 3 were in blind packaging and at first sales slumped due to the consumer not willing to take the risk on the possibility of getting duplicate figures. As a retailer myself, I encourage other retailers to open them up; by opening up the packages, not only did we see an increase in sales, but we managed to put together full set packages and sell the variant figures for more $$$.
It seems now Gentle Giant is no longer providing the Star Wars Bust-ups as a blind assortment, as Series 4 has individual packages; however, there are some variant figures that collectors will be chasing after (two different types of Clone Troopers, and Anakin Skywalker has a dark side variant with evil eyes). The only way to tell if you have them is to open them up. By choosing to do so you may increase your sales. If not, I do encourage you to at the very least to open one up so that the consumer can see the high quality that Gentle Giant has demonstrated with these Bust-ups. After all, seeing is believing folks.
