DH Press, the prose-publishing branch of Dark Horse Comics, has announced the January release of the first two novels in a series based on the legendary Universal Movie Monsters.  First revealed at the San Diego Comic Con (see 'Scarface Novels, Gremlins'), the Universal Monsters line will retail for $6.99.  Science fiction author Paul Witcover (Tumbling After) has authored the first book in the series, Dracula: Asylum, which is set in Dr. Seward's Sanitarium, while Michael Jan Friedman, who has written numerous Star Trek novels, has penned Wolf Man: Hunter's Moon in which Lawrence Talbot is chased by a heretical cult dedicated to the destruction of all marked by the sign of the Wolf.

Future volumes will feature The Mummy, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, and The Creature From the Black Lagoon.
