A Paid Advertisement.  About Comics, the force behind the internationally popular 24 Hour Comics Day, now offers retailers the chance to be hosts for a new comics creation competition.  Comics Jam War will bring creative comics fans into shops on Saturday, April 1st, working in teams to create 8 page comic stories in 12 hours.  There are cash prizes and publication available for the best stories.

'24 Hour Comics Day show that creative events help retailers draw in the local creative community and to generate press coverage,' explains Nat Gertler, publisher of About Comics and founder of Comics Jam War. ' And with the easier-to-arrange 12 hour schedule and the temptation of prizes, Comics Jam War be a big draw.  This will showcase your shop as a center of creativity, and should also help you sell 'how to' books and art supplies.'

Retailers are urged to sign up for Comics Jam War soon to make the most of the event.  'In mid-January we will announce the initial list of participating stores to the press and on the Comics Jam War website,' explains Gertler.  Participating retailers get not only online support but also promotional posters and t-shirts and a supply of the ensuing anthology of prize-winning stories, in return for a $150 participation fee that covers all the participants at a single location. (The location need not be in the shop itself; retailers with limited space can host at a single off-site location.)
