Anthony Furfferi of Empire Comics in Rochester New York saw the comment by Scott Rudge of Astound Comics (see 'Scott Rudge of Astound Comics on Musicland Blowback'), and concurs:

Scott says it well.  No sympathy here for Media Play taking the pill.  It's not surprising that these mass market stores continue to dwindle once they've found that the market is over-priced.  It's also a message to the manufacturers that slow shipping and poorly produced products that lack value and quality are simply flash in the pans with no customer loyalty.  Overpriced products make it so much worse.

As for the manufacturers that are losing a bundle on the matter, stop pandering to bloated big box stores and redevelop the market as it was, in a traditional sense.  Try lowering your prices and increasing your discounts to introduce your products to the comic book market.
