Sony has announced that Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, the latest computer animated feature film based on the extremely popular Playstation game, will be released on April 25th.  The film was first slated for release in the U.S. in late 2005 (see 'Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children'), but was delayed so that Sony could adapt a number of extra features for the American audience.  The result is a two-disk special edition with an MSRP of $26.96.  The film is presented in anamorphic widescreen with both the original Japanese soundtrack and an English dub.  Extras include a 'making of' featurette, footage from the Venice film festival, a Reminiscence of FF VII featurette, deleted scenes and a preview of future Final Fantasy games.

Set two years after the events in the Final Fantasy VII Playstation game, Advent Children involves the characters from the game in a new scenario and portrays their actions with a fluid hyper-realistic animation style demonstrating influences from (and advances beyond) the increasing realism of video game animation in general and the groundbreaking Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within feature film in particular.
