Variety is reporting that Rogue Pictures, the 'genre arm' of Universal's Focus Features, has acquired the rights to Tim Seeley and Stefano Caselli's Hack/Slash comic book series. Hack/Slash is one of the premier homegrown properties developed by Devil's Due Publishing, which also publishes a number of licensed comics. Hack/Slash follows the adventures of Cassie Hack, a teenage girl who survives a slasher attack, and then travels the country hunting down knife-wielding, teenager-slaying maniacs.
Music video director Todd Lincoln is set to helm the Hack/Slash film, and is currently writing the script along with Martin Schenk, who worked with Lincoln on a remake of The Fly. Seeley and Caselli's Hack/Slash has already been adapted for the stage (see accompanying poster).
