WizKids is tweaking the MechWarrior product configuration and the organized play support for the brand, beginning this fall. On the product side, WizKids is changing the size of the sets, the booster configuration and price, and the mix of products in the sets.
The size of each set is being standardized at 105 figures, beginning with Wolf Strike, due out in September (see 'MechWarrior: Vanguard in June'). The 105 figures will include 24 infantry, 24 vehicles, and 57 'Mechs (42 non-uniques and 15 super- and ultra-rare uniques).
Also beginning with Wolf Strike, every faction (except the small Clan Sea Fox) will be included (with at least eight units, including three 'Mechs on average) in every set.
And booster configurations are changing to a $14.95 price point, with two infantry, one vehicle, two 'Mechs, two gear cards, two pilot cards, and one other CEC in every pack. WizKids is promising that collectors will need to buy fewer packs to get the 'Mechs they want, so the price increase will not lead to a corresponding buy-in cost.
WizKids is also altering its MechWarrior organized play program this fall. First, WizKids will increase the number of storylines offered to three to four per month. And WizKids is bringing back exclusive 'Mechs as prize support this fall, and says it is working hard to reduce the number of times a prize is used during an event season.
