Human Head Studios is planning to launch a five product RPG line based on its Normal, Texas property this year, along with a six product card game line -- Villainy.
Normal, Texas, 'The Roleplaying Game of Simple Folk and Strange Days,' is a B-movie setting with weird science, bizarre monsters, government conspiracy, powerful magic, and social change in 1950s small-town America. The Normal, Texas Mainbook, with 348 color pages, will be released to the trade in August, although the company hopes to have it ready to preview at Origins in late June. It will be written by Jason Blair, with art by Leanne Buckley, Leif Jones, Matthew Laznicka, and others.
A Normal, Texas quick-play book was originally released at Gencon last year, just for the show, and a few copies were also made available to retailers at last month's GAMA Trade Show. Response was 'really good,' according to Blair, who said that 'retailers were really excited about the concept.'
Human Head will release new Normal, Texas products roughly every two months after the launch, with Killer Serials scheduled for October, Monster Party for December, Normal, Russia for February, 2007, and Rockets to Infinity for April, 2007.
In June or July, Human Head will release its first Villain -- The Supervillainous Card Game products -- three different card game decks packed four each in a twelve-deck display. The Evil Masterminds set will include three 60-card decks: Mugga Mugga, the Simian Genius; Dr. Oblongata, the Twisted Scientist; and Mallory Maleficarum, the Petulant Witch. Each deck will retail for $11.95.
The second Villainy set, The Scum of the Earth, which will introduce three new villains and three new ways to rule the world, will be released in the same package configuration in September. The three decks in the set will be Uid-Zero, the Rampaging Robot; Laguna, the Freshwater Felon, and Enigmanundrum, the Mysterious Menace.
