Jewish Lights Publishing will release The Adventures of Rabbi Harvey -- A Graphic Novel of Jewish Wisdom and Wit in the Wild West in August.  The 144-page 6' x 9' full color trade paperback is a quirky retelling of Jewish folk tales, set in the old west.

The title character moves west in search of adventure to Elk Spring, Colorado, where he outwits the gang that runs the town and settles down as the town's rabbi, which allows him to settle disputes, trick criminals into confessing, and offer unsolicited bits of Talmudic insight.

Writer/artist Steve Sheinkin is writer and illustrator of the Storytellers History series, a series of illustrated books for 4-8th graders that tell stories from history.

This is the second day in a row that we've had news of a graphic novel with religious themes (see 'Papercutz to Publish Pope Bio'), reflecting the increasing breadth of subject matter for graphic novels as they expand into territory previously reserved only for prose.
