John Munn of Comic Book Ink in Tacoma, Washington sent us his Free Comic Book Day report, pronouncing the results 'a phenomenal day:'

What a Phenomenal Day!!!

Comic Book Ink set up the shop for a great party by inviting members of the Local 501st Legion of Star Wars Recreationists (Garrison Titan), representatives of Tacoma's largest movie complex (The Lakewood Regal 15 Cinemas), hosting costume contests with prizes from Sideshow Collectibles, and having local subscriber, newly-signed Image artist Jesse Munoz on hand to draw sketches!

The 'table was set' at our new location, but after having moved from our established Free Comic Book Day location of three years (in Proctor), we were worried that folks wouldn't turn out in the same numbers for our fourth annual event.

I am thrilled to report that Comic Book Ink smashed all previous Free Comic Book Day records by having over five hundred (500) visitors!  And not only did we go through all of the free 2006 comic books, we also went through our extras from 2005, 2004 and left only a few 2003!   Jesse did over 75 sketches, the movie theatre gave away a huge box of posters and X-Men:  The Last Stand merchandise and we gave away loads of Sideshow Collectibles figures and statues!!!

This event is like no other, promoting literacy and comics to folks who, otherwise, might not have given this medium a second look.  We are, as always, proud to be a part of it!!!

As for 2007?  Let the party preparations begin!!!!
