Marvel enjoyed considerable success with its line of Premiere Hardcover editions of new material such as Brian Michael Bendis' New Avengers (three volumes out so far) or Ed Brubaker's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Now Marvel is expanding this deluxe format (hardcover with dust jacket and high quality Masterworks-type pages) to include some classic sagas from the Marvel canon starting with J.M. DeMatteis and Mike Zeck's Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt, which collects Web of Spider-Man #32-33, Amazing Spider-Man #393-394, and Spectacular Spider-Man #131-132. The 160-page Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt Premiere Hardcover will carry the same reasonable $19.99 cover price as the rest of the Premiere line and will ship to retailers on August 23rd.
In addition to the complete Fearful Symmetry/Kraven's Last Hunt storyline depicting the frustration-induced breakdown of Kraven the Hunter, the new hardcover edition includes 20 additional pages of Mike Zeck's detailed (and gorgeous) pencils for the series as well as reproductions of all the covers from this saga, which is easily the most popular tale in which the spindly wallcrawler wears his black costume.
Look for more classic Marvel tales to get the 'Premiere Classic' treatment in the future starting with the hugely popular Wolverine: Origin and continuing with another Mike Zeck penciled classic, the 1980s mini-series Punisher: Circle of Blood, which was written by Steven Grant, and which was totally responsible for launching the Punisher franchise.
