The current Shonen Jump includes a page celebrating '10 Years of Yu-Gi-Oh!' announcing that the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga series will debut in the January issue of the American Shonen Jump, which will be available during the first week of December. The Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga, which is written by Naoyuki Kageyama rather than Yu-Gi-Oh! creator Kazuki Takahashi, is based on the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime series.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime appears on the Saturday night Toonami block on the Cartoon Network (see 'New Yu-Gi-Oh! Series On TV in the Fall' for a description). Viz publishes the regular Yu-Gi-Oh! and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist manga series and will likely also publish the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga in trade paperback format in the future. While it doesn't do as well as some of the other Shonen Jump properties in the comic shop market, the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga remains a strong seller in the bookstores. Adnh while not as potent as it once was, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game remains the number one CCG in the most recent ICv2 Retailers Guide to Games #11.
