Variety has reported that an IMAX version of Spider-Man 3 will be released on the same day as the regular theatrical release, next May. 

IMAX has become an increasingly important portion of the movie business for comic-based films.  Superman Returns broke the opening weekend IMAX record despite an unspectacular open in regular theaters.   And IMAX versions of V for Vendetta, Batman Begins, and much earlier, Spider-Man 2, have all played a role in making comics come alive.
