Stan Lee is the first announced Guest of Honor at the 2007 New York Comic Con (see 'New York Comic Con Announces 2007 Dates'), and he will also figure prominently in an exhibit that will open at the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art in New York the weekend of the show.  Lee has strong ties to New York, which was not only his home and the place where he co-created many of Marvel's top characters, but also the setting for the Marvel stories he wrote, edited, and published.

Lee's appearance, his first in New York in some time, will tie in well with the run-up to Spider-Man 3, which opens in May.  He is also achieving new celebrity in his on-screen role in Who Wants To Be a Superhero.

Lee waxed eloquent on his plans to come to New York.  'What a kick to be returning to New York, the great city where I was born and lived most of my life--as well as the city where I made sure most of the Marvel superheroes lived,' he said.

'For the past two decades I've kept so busy in Los Angeles that I haven't had time to return to the Big Apple as often as I'd like, so you can imagine what a thrill this will be for me to have a chance to renew a million old acquaintances with artists, writers, editors and the mainstays of the comic book world--namely the fabulous, fantastic fans!'

'Looking forward to seeing Comicdom Assembled next February --don'tcha dare be late!'

 'Excelsior!'
