George Romero will write and direct a new zombie film in his 'dead' series (see ''Land of the Dead' Comics'). 

George A. Romero's Diary of the Dead follows college film students who find themselves in a Blair Witch Project-like situation where real zombies show up during their filming of a horror movie.

It's Romero's first independently-financed 'dead' film in more than 20 years.
