In its first full week of release Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto Vol. 11 published by Viz sold more copies in a seven-day period than any other graphic novel has managed to do in bookstores so far in 2006.  How hot is Naruto?  Naruto Vol. 9, which debuted in March, remains the best-selling graphic novel of 2006 so far according to the BookScan report of bookstore sales -- and all of the first ten volumes in the series would all rank in the top 12 in year-to-date sales with only DC's V for Vendetta and Tokyopop's Fruits Basket Vol. 13 interrupting Naruto's dominance.

The 9/11 Report: A Graphic Adaptation by Sid Jacobson and Ernie Colon (published by Hill and Wang) rocketed to second place on the list in its first full week of release, propelled by a plethora of positive press postings.  In a normal week (i.e. one without a Naruto debut), The 9/11 Report would have been number one, and with the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks looming, this volume could easily take over the lead during the next couple of weeks.  Among other non-manga releases of note, Marvel's Halo graphic novel remains in the top ten at #8, while Alan Moore's V for Vendetta is #15 and his Watchmen is #27.  Robert Kirkman's Marvel Zombies made its first appearance in the top fifty at #33.

The other 45 titles in the top 50 were all manga (or manga-related).  Tokyopop's Fruits Basket Vol. 14 was number three, followed by Viz's Death Note Vol. 7 at #4, Naruto Vol. 10 at five, Naruto Vol. 1 at six, Black Cat Vol. 4 at #7, Full Metal Alchemist Vol. 9 at #9 and Naruto Vol. 2 at #10.
