Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles won the Best Animated Sci-Fi Feature Film Award at the 2006 International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival in Phoenix.  The film, which skillfully blends 2D and 3D animation, is the latest installment in the popular Robotech series, which played a major role in the rise of popularity of anime in the U.S. during the 1980s.  Carl Macek fashioned the original Robotech series by combining elements of three different anime series.

FUNimation Production, which is releasing Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles in the U.S., had originally planned to release the film on DVD (MSRP $29.98) in November (see 'FUNimation Sets Date'), but now plans to release it on February 6th.
