Score Entertainment is sampling Dragon Ball Z toy and video buyers with cards from its hit DBZ CCG over the coming year. In the larger-scale of the two promotions, Score is following up its successful two-card Irwin Toy promotion in 2001 with an expanded program in 2002. The 2001 promotion included two cards (IR-1 and IR-2) in different Irwin DBZ vehicle packages. Now thirty exclusive DBZ CCG cards are being created for inclusion in Irwin Toy DBZ figure packages throughout 2002. There will be one card in each figure package. While the inclusion of the card will be visible from the package, the front of the card will not be visible, so if collectors are trying to accumulate all of the special promo cards, they're going to have to buy a lot of figures or do some trading or singles purchases. According to Score, the cards will 'stand on their own,' and will fit with the game as it is being played at the time the promo card is released. The 2002 cards will be numbered IR-3 and up.
In a similar but less extensive promotion, FUNimation will be including three exclusive DBZ CCG cards in the upcoming DVD release of Cooler's Revenge, the next DBZ feature in the series. The cards will each feature Cooler and are personality cards that include levels 1, 2, and 3. The DVD is due for release January 22, 2002.
