4Kids is launching its Chaotic Trading Card Game in the hobby in January followed by a rollout in the mass market and specialty stores in April. In the unique Chaotic TCG no two cards are alike -- each card has its own alphanumeric code that allows players to link up with the Chaotic game's Internet portal. 4Kids has already started promoting the TCG with a Chaotic TV series that debuted on the 4Kids' Saturday morning animated block on Fox on October 7th. The TV series includes on-air passwords that will allow kids from the target demographic (boys 9-17) to access the Chaotic Website.
After the game is launched in the hobby in January, players will be able to upload their physical cards on the Chaoticgame Website and create virtual cards and in so doing build their decks and collections online and perhaps most importantly, trade cards with other players online. Later in 2007 they will be able to battle with players from all over the world on the Website, and chat with other players during online game play. Players will also be able to compete in tournaments online, though 4Kids is also planning a series of in-person tournaments at select comic and hobby stores.
Monthly events at hobby stores will start during the first quarter of 2007 and 4Kids is also planning organized play events at mass retailers later in the year. 4Kids plans to promote Chaotic organized play events through retailers, the Chaoticgame Website, and via print and online ad campaigns as well as in trailers included on Yu-Gi-Oh! home video releases.
Chaotic licensed products will also contain unique codes or passwords that will provide access to special areas on the Chaoticgame Website, interviews with the game designers, and access to view the original sketches for the Chaotic artwork.
