Platinum Studios has hired Jim McLauchlin as editor-in-chief of Platinum's Print and Online Comic Books Division.  Platinum Studios has developed a number of comic book properties for the movies and television and is now also pursuing the online and print publication of a number of original properties (see 'Platinum Studios Acquires Drunk Duck').

McLauchlin, who spent eleven years as a senior writer and editor at Wizard before a two-year stint as EIC at Top Cow where he helped develop a number of properties including Wanted, Common Grounds, and Freshmen, appears to be an excellent choice for Platinum.  In December Platinum is scheduled to release its first print comic, Cowboys and Aliens (see 'Platinum Pre-Publishing Cowboys & Aliens').

McLauchlin is also president of The Hero Initiative, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping comic book creators in need (see 'A.C.T.O.R. Becomes Hero Initiative').
