The Sunday New York Times from December 31st included a feature by George Gene Gustines on Vertigo's DMZ and series writer Brian Wood in the Arts and Leisure section.

In the 2/3-page article, illustrated with art from the series and a photo of Wood, Gustines describes the premise of DMZ and discusses Wood's inspiration for it and his Oni series, Local.

Although the book sells only around 15,000 copies, lower than bookstore stalwarts Y:  The Last Man and Fables, which sell around 25,000 per issue, DC has rushed trade paperback collections into print because of the fan response and good reviews (from Entertainment Weekly and the New York Times Book Review, among others), according to the article.
