NBC Universal is set to launch a horror-themed cable channel on March 1st, which will feature NBC Universal library series and films.  Chiller will be carried on DirecTV, which will bring it into 12 million homes at launch.

 

The NBC Universal library includes series such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Tales from the Crypt, Twin Peaks and Friday the 13th as well as movies like Psycho, The Birds, and The Shining.  Chiller's target audience is viewers ages 18-34.

 

While Chiller's popularity may not rival that of the Sci Fi Channel, new attention to these properties and the horror genre in general can only be a good thing for pop culture retailers.
