Joe Quesada has been promoted to Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment.  In this role Quesada will work with Alan Fine, Executive Vice President, Office of the President and Chairman of Marvel Studios’ Creative Committee, to ensure Marvel’s characters “remain true to the essence of Marvel’s rich history.”

This expands Quesada’s portfolio from comics and animation, which he previously oversaw as CCO of those divisions, to also include all theatrical, television, and game uses of Marvel properties.  Quesada will continue to serve as Editor-In-chief of Marvel Publishing.

“I am honored to take this new position at Marvel Entertainment and work with Alan to bring the rich history of Marvel to a brand new audience,” Quesada said.

Like Warners, which recently promoted Geoff Johns to CCO of DC Entertainment (see “New DC Executive Team”), Disney now has a management structure for Marvel that puts the comic team firmly in control of the expressions of its properties across all media.
