Starz Media announced today that it was selling its Film Roman animation production unit to a group of investors led by Scott Greenberg, the former head of Film Roman.  Starz, which also owns Manga Entertainment and Anchor Bay Entertainment, has minority stakes in Archie Comics and Stan Lee’s POW Entertainment in addition to the Starz Entertainment cluster of cable channels.

Film Roman produces The Simpsons TV series as well as a number of other series that appeared on Fox including Beavis and Butthead, and King of the Hill as well as the Garfield and Peanuts specials that aired on various networks in the 1980s and 1990s.

Back in 2006 parent company Liberty Media merged IDT, which included Film Roman, and the Starz Entertainment Group to form Starz Media (see “Liberty Merges IDT and Starz”).
