Legendary Pictures has filed suit against Dan Lin, Roy Lee, and Doug Davison, asking the court to resolve a dispute over whether the company has the right to remove them from Godzilla, according to Hollywood Reporter.  Legendary had removed the producers earlier this week (see "'Godzilla' Gets New Writer, Producer"), and now we know why.  It alleged in the suit that the only services performed during the development process were introducing a screenwriter to Legendary and giving notes on a screenplay, which were not used.
"Legendary judged that Defendants offered little to the ongoing production of the film, and that their likely role (if engaged) would not warrant the substantial fees and backend compensation that they could potentially earn as producers," the suit said.
The producers were threatening to sue, so Legendary moved first to force arbitration.
