Cryptozoic and Alderac Entertainment Group announced they have entered into a partnership to co-produce new licensed versions of AEG’s popular Love Letter card game. The first three releases, which are planned for late 2014, will include versions of the game tied to Adventure Time, DC Comics, and The Hobbit.
Seiji Kanai’s Love Letter recently won the 2014 Origins Award for Best Traditional Card Game (see "2014 Origins Winners Announced"). The simple, quick card game includes just 16 cards, and the goal is to deliver your love letter to the Princess while also keeping other players’ letters away.
The new versions will include the same quick, easy to learn dynamics, but will also include some new effects designed in conjunction with Kanai that will be unique to each edition.
This is not the first licensed adaptation of the game, as AEG has already produced an edition based on its L5R CCG (see "'Love Letter: Legend of the Five Rings'"), and also plans to release its own hybrid crossover with Steve Jackson Game’s hit Munchkin card game, Munchkin Loot Letter, this fall (see "Two New 'Munchkin' Hybrid Crossover Games").
