Humanoids has announced the new four book series Metabaron which continues the Metabarons space opera created by Alexandro Jodorowsky and Moebius. The first book in the planned quartet will release in June 2016.
The Metabarons saga never resolved what happened to No Name, the last of the Metabarons, and now Jerry Frissen (Lucha Libre, The Zombies That Ate the World) will continue the story, based on a plot by Jodorowsky. The first of the four-book Metabaron saga will be released in June 2016, with each subsequent 108-page volume following at eight month intervals. Each story will be illustrated by a different internationally known artist, with French illustrator Valentin Secher (Khaal: Chronicles of a Galactic Emperor) providing interior art for the first volume. Canadian artist Niko Henrichon (Pride of Baghdad, Noah) will illustrate the second volume.
The “Jodo-verse” containing the Metabarons was created in the 1980s by Jodorowsky and Moebius, where the character appeared peripherally in The Incal. Jodorowsky followed this in the 1990s with the three volume spin-off series, The Metabarons, which was illustrated by Juan Gimenez. Humanoids released a Metabarons prequel earlier this year (see "'Metabaraons' Prequel"). Humanoids told ICv2 that the Metabarons collection will be back in print in February 2015.
Humanoids will also be releasing a $189 Coffee Table edition (12" x 16") of Final Incal on November 12, which follows the deluxe collection of the material released in May (see "'Final Incal' in English"). The 156-page edition does not contain the slipcase, signatures, or extra Moebius’ After the Incal pages included in the sold-out deluxe edition. A standard hardcover of Final Incal will be released in February with an MSRP of $34.95.
Humanoids also recently published a new complete edition of Megalex, another series that takes place in the larger "Jodo-verse" (see "'Megalex'").
