In May Tasty Minstrel Games is releasing Eminent Domain, a new deck-building game designed by Seth Jaffee for 2-4 players, ages 12 and up. Players in Eminent Domain build galactic empires. Players have to choose whether to colonize nearby planets, or take them by force, whether to harvest their resources for trade, or emphasize research to improve available technology.
At the beginning of the game each player has the same deck of cards, which includes 2 cards for each of the game’s “Roles” (Colonize, Research, Survey, Trade/Harvest, Warfare, or Politics). Each turn players choose a Role to execute, which allows them to draw another of that Role card. When executing a Role, a player can boost its effect by playing cards out of his or her hand matching the Role they have chosen. So the more a player concentrates on a role such as research, the better they get at researching since they have more Research cards in their deck.
The Eminent Domain Game includes 96 Action/Role Cards (20 Colonize, 20 Research, 20 Survey, 16 Trade/Harvest, 16 Warfare, and 4 politics), 33 Planet Cards (9 Fertile, 9 Advanced, 9 Metallic, and 6 Start), 39 Technology Cards (13 Fertile, 13 Advanced, 13 Metallic), 1 Action/Role Card Reference Board, 30 Army tokens, 24 Resource Tokens (6 Food, 6 Water, 6 Iron, 6 Silicon) and 30 Victory Point Tokens.
