Disney's ABC Cable Network has signed an agreement with Toei Animation to license Digimon Savers, the fifth season of the Digimon anime series.   The 48 thirty-minute Digimon Savers episodes will commence airing on Toon Disney in the fall under as Digimon Data Squad.  Conceived as a 'Tomagotchi for boys,' the Pokemonesque Digimon property has never reached the stratospheric heights that Pokemon achieved, but the Digimon anime series have been solid though not spectacular performers and have now amassed an impressive total of 253 TV episodes and eight animated movies.

The first episode of the Digimon Savers anime series aired in Japan in April of 2006 after a three-year hiatus in the production of Digimon anime.
