Howard Chaykin's seminal 1980s classic comic book series American Flagg! will finally get the respect it deserves in July in a deluxe hardcover volume painstakingly restored by Image Comics and Dynamic Forces.  Originally announced in August of 2004 for a November '04 release (see "Dynamic Forces to Release American Flagg in 3 Editions"), this long awaited volume has been four years in the making, the result of a meticulous process that involved, according to Chaykin, "restoring every line in every panel on every page"

The deluxe hardcover edition designed by Chip Kidd includes the first 14 American Flagg! comics plus Howard Chaykin's original sketchbook for the series and an all-new 12-page story written and illustrated by Chaykin.  Michael Chabon, author The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, provides the introduction, while Wildstorm's Jim Lee penned the afterword.

The same material included in the American Flagg! Hardcover will be published in two trade paperback editions with the first volume, which includes issues 1-6 plus the new story, in September and the second volume (issues 7-14) slated for a winter 2008 release.
