Art Spiegelman's politically charged In the Shadow of No Towers sits atop the BookScan list of graphic novels sold in bookstores for the third straight week (see 'In the Shadows Off to Big Start'). While manga still dominates the list with 47 out of the Top 50 titles, Spiegelman's ruminations on the political fallout of 9/11 remains firmly in first place, with another popular non-manga title published by Random House, Marjane Satrapi's Persepolis, in the second spot.
Random House also grabbed the #4 spot with the Del Rey manga title Tsubasa Vol. #2 from Clamp. Viz dominated the Top Ten with six titles including two classy shoujo series by Yu Watase (Imadoki Vol. #2 at #3 and Alice 19 Vol.#6 in the sixth spot). The top new manga title of the past month is Gosha Aoyama's Case Closed Vol. #1 (Detective Conan in Japan), which has spent the last three weeks in the Top Ten (thanks in part to the Case Closed anime series, which is currently running on the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim). Dark Horse's Trigun Maximum Vol. #2, which is based on the extremely popular property by Yasuhiro Nightow, rounds out the Top Ten.
