Free Comic Book Day 2005 will take place in over 1900 stores, where around 2 million comics will be given away free on May 7th.  The Free Comic Book Day Committee announced the numbers based on orders taken by Diamond Comic Distributors.  

 

The number of stores is greater than the number of stores in the Hollywood Video or Borders/Waldenbooks chains.  And growing participation by schools and libraries in promotions organized by local retailers will expand the reach of the event.
