Animenation is reporting that the Japanese company Marvelous Entertainment will debut a Sugar Sugar Rune anime series on TV Tokyo on July 2nd.  Bandai is also developing a Sugar Sugar Rune game for the Playstation platform.

Here in the States Del Rey is publishing the first volume of the Sugar Sugar Rune manga series in September (see 'Del Rey Adds Three Manga Series').  A 'magical girl' manga in which two young witches battle to see who will be queen of their magical realm, Sugar Sugar Rune mixes cuteness (kawaii) and gothic design into an amalgam that has obviously struck a chord in Japan.
