Del Rey Manga, a division of Random House, has announced its first OEL (original English Language) title, Avril Lavigne's Make 5 Wishes.  The first volume of the 160-page, full color manga-style graphic novel written by Joshua Dysart and illustrated by Camilla D'Errico will be released in April with the second (and final) volume set for July.

Avril Lavigne has been involved in the creative process that led to the development of this series and the Canadian rocker also appears as a character in the narrative about an introverted teenage girl who stumbles onto a Website where a demon grants her five wishes -- although, unfortunately the shy girl's wishes don't always turn out as expected.

Avril Lavigne's Make 5 Wishes Vol. 1 ($12.95) will be released on April 10th, while Avril Lavigne's new CD The Best Damn Thing will debut on April 17th.  Rocker Courtney Love certainly scored a hit for Tokyopop with her Princess Ai manga series (see 'Princess Ai Comic Strip'), and Del Rey is obviously hoping that Avril LaVigne will be able to work a similar magic with her manga project.
